I barely remember adidas without their Boost technology… I personally experienced the technology for myself back in 2016 with the launch of the adidas PUREBoostX, which took me one heck of a running journey, with many personal bests wearing them.

The Evolution of adidas Boost

After the launch of the adidas PUREBoostX, I’ve run in almost every iteration of the Ultraboost (launched in 2015) women’s running shoes which firmly became a favourite running shoe pick for me.

You can read my adidas UltraBoost 19 review here, and check out my pick of running, trail running and lifestyle shoes from adidas you need in your collection.

The Boost technology, however, officially launched back in 2013 and has gone through quite the evolution right the way through to adidas Ultraboost Light.

Throwback To The adidas PUREBoostX Launch Run (2016)

This post has been edited since first publication in 2016

Way back in 2016 whilst I was scrolling through Twitter I came across an event at Runners Need in conjunction with adidas and 1Rebel. I jumped at the opportunity and booked myself a place before actually really contemplating if I was physically able to do the run due to my work being pretty physical.

But, the day came and although I was knackered I still went along. As always, I knew that the social side of running would make up for my lack of energy.

The main point of the event was to have the chance to trial the PureBoost X; a female specific training shoe which featured a floating arch (basically a gap between the upper and the sole of the shoes) that’s made to hug and support the arch of your feet whilst moulding to your individual foot shape.

I actually already owned the PureBoostX – anyone remember the good old days of 50% off with Vitality insurance?! On the schedule after swapping out my own running shoes for the PureBoost X was a 45minute 1Rebel RESHAPE class at 1Rebel with Master Trainer, Melissa Weldon.

I was so tired and sore (it’s rest day y’all!) that I had to take it super chilled in class; normally the class is a mixture of treadmill and floor workout but on this occasion I did a double floor session.

Once class was done, we all went on a 3km run to the nearby Runners Need Kings Cross store where we set about to cool down and the have a little in store party.

First stop for me was the food (I’d had no appetite all day but that little run brought it back), then the gif photo-booth, then the food again before grabbing a goody bag and heading home to get some sleep.

But the shoes. I loved them. They became my go to shoes whenever I needed something comfortable and flexible. I mostly wore them for short runs but anything over 10km, at the time, I physically felt I needed a more supportive shoe to help protect my form as well as protecting me from injury.

I remember when the Boost technology first was released and I lived in my pair cos they basically made me feel like I was running on clouds. It’d been a long time since I’d consistently run in adidas but they firmly found a spot in my kit box for shorter, faster runs!

And have stayed there ever since.

Have you tried the Adidas Boost technology? Have a favourite?!
